FIRST STEPS GUIDE:
The first item on this mod you need to craft is a Sword Handle. You can know this item’s crafting through the (green) recipe book on the crafting table (it unlocks when harvesting diamond, like other vanilla items). But as its crafting has changed from the 1.7.10 version, I’ll show it here.
BASIC AND UPGRADED SWORDS:
Also, when you craft your first Sword Handle, all the recipes for the basic swords will also appear on the (green) recipe book on the crafting table. Almost all Swords use a right-click ability, so keep in mind to use it far from something important in your map (even your own base). If you need to disable/enable this last thing mentioned, there is a new feature that will like you.
When you craft a basic sword, you’ll unlock its upgraded recipe on the (green) recipe book. Also all third tier swords have been eliminated.
- Basic Swords: Earth Sword, Water Sword, Light Sword, Fire Sword, Wind Sword, Ender Sword, Beast Sword, Dark Sword, Thunder Sword.
- Upgraded Swords: Wild Nature Sword, Ice Sword, Light Nether Sword, Combustion Sword, Wind Impulse Sword, Ender Portal Sword, Golem Sword, Dark Nether Sword, Thunder Shock Sword.
- One of the biggest changes in all the sword’s behaviour is passive abilities while holding a sword. Not all swords have this feature, but it also wears off while changing the active slot to another item. It also works on holding a sword on the second hand, but we will also get to this.
(NEW) ABILITY AND SYNERGY TOTEM:
This new items, (new) Ability Totem and (new) Synergy Totem, can be stored on any slot on the inventory, and trigger some new functionalities.
Ability Totem: While holding the item, on right click, disables all active abilities on the swords in the inventory. Can be stored on any passive slots, the effect will be active as long as the player wears it.
Synergy Totem: Active ability disabling also available (shift-right click), and also right click to enable active abilities on both-hand swords. Works the same as Ability Totem, just have it on the player’s inventory.
(NEW) SWORDS SMELTING AND ESSENCES:
Now, basic and upgraded swords (not mixed), need to be smelted on the (new) Transmutation Furnace.
- Transmutation Furnace: This furnace is now the only way to get Elemental Essences, and also for +1.12 versions, the mixed swords. It uses any fuel, like a normal furnace.
- Elemental Essences: Earth Essence, Water Essence, Light Essence, Fire Essence, Wind Essence, Ender Essence, Beast Essence, Dark Essence, Thunder Essence.
MIXED SWORDS:
As mentioned on the smelting section, now all mixed swords need to smelt an essence to be created.
- Mixed Swords: Peaceful Nature Sword, Meteor Sword, Thunderstorm Sword, Meteoric Thunderstorm Sword, Ender Fire Sword, Ender Wind Sword, Ender Thunder Sword, Time Sword, Steam Sword, Wind Boom Sword, Wind Blast Sword, Tri-Ender Sword, Atlantis Sword (only 1.15).
- Its crafting will be also available on crafting your first essence, but the basic crafting normally uses the same pattern: A sword handle, some iron and two different essences. Some need to be crafted with even three essences
ABOUT THE CYAN SWORD:
It may be obvious for its name, but the Cyan Sword is the most powerful sword in the mod. It may not have an active or passive hability, but is the fastest and damaging sword. Its ideal use is with a synergy totem and another sword on the secondary hand.
GAMEPLAY SUGGESTIONS (USEFUL WHEN YOU ARE HAVING A HARD TIME):
- Enchantable: This swords, as any tool on Minecraft, can be enchanted with mending (or other enchantment). When low on resources, this can be a big help to keep your tools healthier.
- Using F: Dual wielding can get tricky sometimes. The vanilla shortcut for switching items is “F”, and I’d suggest to keep always an active slot empty, for not having a sword on your hands if not necessary. More on this topic: If you right click with a sword on your secondary hand and another item is on your primary hand (specially food), you’ll be activating the active ability (unless you disabled active abilities with a totem).
- Smart decisions: Be smart on your sword choice. Fire, block spawning, etc… can be more destructive than you might spect. One good example is while fighting back a raid on a village, fire/thunder tiers can burn down their houses and even kill its villagers. Build your strategy around what effect grants you each sword (offensive, defensive, movement…) and their capability to interfere with your goal.

How to obtain the swords?
The swords can be crafted in a Cyan Workbench. You will need four Cyan Ingots and three iron ingots for each sword. The recipes are listed below:
How do I upgrade my sword?
You can upgrade your swords in a Cyan Anvil, it costs one diamond per level of upgrading. To upgrade your sword you need an Essence of Sword, which you can obtain from killing mobs or from mob spawners (unlocked at level 5). The Essence of Sword is used as fuel for the upgrading process, it is consumed after each level of upgrading (1 essence per level). After every five levels you will receive an extra ability, so choose wisely!
How do I mix abilities on my upgraded sword?
You can mix abilities on your upgraded sword by using a Mixing Stand and an Essence of Sword. For example, if you want a fire sword with the ability to shoot arrows, you will need an upgraded sword with at least five fire abilities. You can obtain the Essence of Sword by killing mobs or from mob spawners (unlocked at level 5). After mixing abilities on your sword, it will have one ability from each of the three types (explosive arrow, bow and fire). The order and type of abilities that you obtain are random.
How do I obtain the Mixing Stand?
