In Minecraft, mob pets are a great way to liven up your world—especially when they’re so easily killed by the weapons in the game. With all of the new items added by other mods and the combat changes in 1.9, it has become easier than ever for players to accidentally hurt or even kill their own pet mobs! Fortunately, that’s where Friendly Fire Mod for Minecraft 1.19.4 → 1.18.2 and 1.16.5 comes in; this mod will help protect your pet mobs from harm at the hands of their owners. Let’s take a closer look at how this mod works and why it is so important for protecting your beloved mob pets!

How Does The Mod Work?

Friendly Fire Mod prevents pet mobs from being damaged by their owners, and you can also edit the config file to prevent damage to baby mobs as well (this is off by default). The mod works by detecting when a player tries to attack its own pet mob, and then preventing them from doing any damage to it. Additionally, if you sneak while attacking your pet mob, they will not be protected; this is an intentional feature designed to make sure that players can still use their weapons on their pets if necessary without worrying about hurting them unintentionally.

What Are The Benefits?

The main benefit of using Friendly Fire Mod is that it makes it nearly impossible for players to accidentally hurt or kill their own pet mobs with weapons or AOE effects. This means that you can enjoy playing with your mob pets without having to worry about them getting hurt or killed! It also helps keep your world looking its best; since pet mobs won’t be harmed or killed due to friendly fire, they will remain alive longer and won’t have to be replaced as often. This makes for a much more enjoyable gaming experience overall!

This mod provides several datapack entity tags to help improve the configuration of the mod. Datapacks are a very flexible way to configure the game and allow players, servers, other mods, and modpacks to configure certain properties.

friendlyfire:bypass_pet – This is an item tag that allows items to bypass pet protections.
friendlyfire:bypass_all – This is an item tag that allows items to bypass all protections offered by the mod.
friendlyfire:general_protection – This is an entity tag that allows other mobs to be granted protection from combat damage. This example datapack will add villagers and wandering villagers to the protection list. When working with datapacks it is highly recommended to use a mod like Open Loader that simplifies the process of installing datapacks.
